In the waning days of 2008

Before I must commit this calendar to the dust bin of History, to paraphrase my old History professor, Dr. Wren, I wanted to record for posterity this Lunesta calendar. For those who are unaware, Lunesta is a sleep aid. I’m not sure where we got the calandar, but it’s gotten both me and Robin through a very, very rough year. How often did I wish that little butterfly would land on my pillow to make drift gently into blissful sleep? It’s an illusion of course. All that waits me when I close my eyes is nightmares. Now isn’t the time to open that can of worms.

But me, with my cane and surgeries, mental breakdowns and all that. Her, with her own issues that I won’t disclose for her own privacy’s sake, but they were BIG issues. It was like everything was falling apart. Now, however, I’m seeing real hope for 2009. Let’s cross our fingers.

About Russell Smith

I was born at the American Hospital in Neuilly-sur-Seine, France. I find inspiration in the lives of so many people from Joan of Arc to Oscar Wilde. While my primary avocation is photography, I also enjoy philosophy, theology and most of all, history. My beloved wife, Robin Anne Smith, who passed away in 2013 is also an inspiration to me. My beloved partner, Dana is also a great support and inspiration to me. I'd be remiss if I did not mention my cats: Natasha, Maxwell, Tigger and Nigel.
