Megatron speaks!

Talk about beating the heat!

From Hollyblog II

Today, by the way is my maternal grandmother’s birthday. Mittie Adeline Mitchell Altman was born in the early hours of April 21, 1907, the fourth child and third daughter Lucy Boykin and Sam Mitchell. Sam Mitchell. Greatgrandpapa Mitchell married three times and produced many children by his first two wives. An old man, he fathered his last child, a girl, after my grandmother was a grown woman with a family of her own. Sinking in his dotage, Sam reliquished control of this last baby because his poor wife died of childbirth fever. Equate that with dying from a couple of stab wounds to the belly, a horrible death. At any rate, there was a point when my grandmother was required to take her turn and help raise the baby. Bring her into her home, feed her, mother her and all that. I don’t this she really cared for it much because in adulthood, she made no attempt to stay in touch with this younger half sister. And she outlived her anyway.

About Russell Smith

I was born at the American Hospital in Neuilly-sur-Seine, France. I find inspiration in the lives of so many people from Joan of Arc to Oscar Wilde. While my primary avocation is photography, I also enjoy philosophy, theology and most of all, history. My beloved wife, Robin Anne Smith, who passed away in 2013 is also an inspiration to me. My beloved partner, Dana is also a great support and inspiration to me. I'd be remiss if I did not mention my cats: Natasha, Maxwell, Tigger and Nigel.
