Who healthcares anymore?

I guess its time for America to click the remote. The big boys (and girls) from Big Insurance to Big Pharma have gotten their slices. Promises of benefits to the ever-shrinking middle class leave the wretched poor ever more wretched – as befits a Third World Country.

How many bills are floating around at this point? Three? Four? What if it degenerates to 50 versions in the Senate, each with a sponsor…uh, the math doesn’t quite work, but let’s say the Senate with its mystical inner rules, grants Teddy a posthumous vote? Then in the House, Nancy Pelosi, the once strict task mistress of the Minority Party seems now to be just the loose canon, with little credibility, that we all knew her to be. Murtha is gasping his last, cough, you know. I  can just see Majority Leader Steny Hoyer now, rubbing his hands together. 2010 may be his year. I’ve met him. I used to go to, cough, you know, meetings at the same church that he attended (Baptist) services. He helped us stack our chairs once. Nice guy. Salt of the earth. A Marylander as Speaker of the House! But you know, Nancy P. is the daughter of a former mayor of Baltimore, but she’s left and like me, is a Californian and doesn’t count. Go, Steny! Go!

About Russell Smith

I was born at the American Hospital in Neuilly-sur-Seine, France. I find inspiration in the lives of so many people from Joan of Arc to Oscar Wilde. While my primary avocation is photography, I also enjoy philosophy, theology and most of all, history. My beloved wife, Robin Anne Smith, who passed away in 2013 is also an inspiration to me. My beloved partner, Dana is also a great support and inspiration to me. I'd be remiss if I did not mention my cats: Natasha, Maxwell, Tigger and Nigel.
