Redwoods and poppies

Only in California!

Look for more stunning nature photography under the page, Ah! The beauty! We Californians are so lucky, blessed you might say, with an abundance of ecosystems and differing biospheres that overlap, intersect and delight our senses! Despite the recent crop of macMansions popping up on what should be park land, the drive down Mulholland is still breathtaking, as is the scary ride up the PCH. Deserts. Mountains. Ocean. The one thing I miss living in L.A. is a mighty river like the Potomac, or an estuary like the Chesapeake. In case you can’t tell, I’m from the Washington, D.C. area. God bless America! And God bless the great state of California! p.s. I can’t wait to see the rivers and valleys of central Pennsylvania this Thanksgiving when I visit my parents.

About Russell Smith

I was born at the American Hospital in Neuilly-sur-Seine, France. I find inspiration in the lives of so many people from Joan of Arc to Oscar Wilde. While my primary avocation is photography, I also enjoy philosophy, theology and most of all, history. My beloved wife, Robin Anne Smith, who passed away in 2013 is also an inspiration to me. My beloved partner, Dana is also a great support and inspiration to me. I'd be remiss if I did not mention my cats: Natasha, Maxwell, Tigger and Nigel.
